Project Description |
TUBITAK adheres to the following mission statement: “To develop scientific and technological policies in line with our national priorities and in cooperation with all sectors and related establishments; contribute to establishment of infrastructure and instruments to implement said policies; support and conduct research and development activities; and to play a leading role in the creation of a science and technology culture with the aim of improving the competitive power and prosperity of the country.” In light of this vision and a decree by the Supreme Council for Science and Technology, on March 10, 2005 Tubitak has initiated a new program to support research projects addressing the needs of the public sector. In summary, the aim of program 1007 is to address public needs that can be solved by Research and Development projects. CORS-TR (Constantly Operating Reference Station) Project adheres to the principles stated by this program. This project, vital for Turkey, has been submitted to Tubitak by Istanbul Kultur University (IKU), Harita Genel Komutanligi (HGK) and the Directorate of Cadastre and Land Registry (TKGM). Following a thorough scientific analysis, Tubitak has decided to support this project with the aim of “setting up GPS stations adhering to the principles of fully networked real-time kinematics and a research effort for the determination of cell based transformation parameters”. The project was initiated on April 18, 2006 by Tubitak, IKU, HGK and TKGM. The two year project will be completed by April 18, 2008. Henceforth the project will be abbreviated as CORS-TR. The project may be considered a national first in bringing together Tubitak, academia and two major mapping institutions. Click for more information on project goals, content and details. |
